Defcon stamped himself as one to watch in his racing debut and currently rates as outright $4.60 favourites in 2016 Blue Diamond Prelude C&G betting markets with leading online bookie Ladbrokes.com.au.

An exciting prospect for Peter and Paul Snowden who have saddled the two most recent winners of the Blue Diamond Stakes, Defcon trialled well in the lead-up to his competitive debut; beating a number of notable opponents home in a 900m Rosehill Gardens hit-out on January 16th.

Jumping from the gates well in the Group 3 Canonbury Stakes (1100m), the Choisir colt was unlucky to be hampered for a run rounding onto the final straight but produced a strong turn of foot to run on for second.

Defcon will require luck in running from barrier 13 but should receive a great ride from notable hoop Blake Shinn.

Weatherly has so-far received the greatest market share of bets for success in the 2016 Blue Diamond Prelude F betting markets; cutting in from a quote of $6.50 to currently register as outright $5 second-favourite and clear market mover.

Luckless from the barriers in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview C&G (1000m) on debut, the Beneteau colt was unable to completely recover before finishing sixth.

Hong Kong-based hoop Douglas Whyte has been booked to ride the colt on Saturday, who will leave from barrier 9 in the Blue Diamond Prelude C&G.

Flying Artie’s chances of success took a big hit when he was allocated the outside barrier 16, but punters continue to rally around the two-year-old and have seen his quote cut from $7 into $5.50.

Flying Artie immediately stamped himself as a colt to follow when debuting to racing for second in the Listed Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) in early November.

Having trialled well in the lead-up to his competitive return, the son of Artie Schiller will be partnered by champion jockey Damien Oliver on Saturday.
