Power Trip has more than stamped himself as one to follow through a short but impressive racing career so far and will leave from the ideal barrier 4 in the 2016 Blue Diamond Prelude C&G.

Beating a talented field to the line to win the Group 3 Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) on debut in November, the son of Hard Spun returned this time for a credible fourth in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview C&G (1000m) on January 26th.

Jamie Mott as retained the ride on the two-year-old who should prove tough to beat at the conditions on Saturday.

Godolphin Australia is set to be offered a great chance of success in the race for colts on geldings on Saturday after trainer John O’Shea confirmed Cohesion in the Blue Diamond Prelude C&G field.

Cohesion trilled well in the lead-up to his competitive debut in spring and immediately stamped himself as one to watch when running on for a credible fourth in the Listed Breeders’ Plate (1000m) at Randwick on October 3rd.

Resuming this time in the Blue Diamond Prelude, the Lonhro colt produced a particularly smart effort to beat the talented field to the line by close to two lengths.

Mick Price has a big opinion of Flying Artie but the colt is going to need plenty of luck in the Blue Diamond Prelude C&G after drawing the outside barrier 16.

Flying Artie flew home from the rear of the field to finish a close second to Power Trip in the Maribyrnong Plate on debut and has trialled particularly well in the lead-up to his competitive return on Saturday.

A total of five runners will make their competitive debuts in the 2016 Blue Diamond Prelude C&G, including David Hayes and Tom Dabernig-trained stable mates Lionhearted and Ocean Grove.
