16 three-year-olds have been included in nominations for the Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude C&G (1100m), to be used as a final competitive point of call for several leading Blue Diamond Stakes chances.
Yet to taste anything but success over his short career so far, trainer Mark Riley has included Of The Brave in 2015 Blue Diamond Prelude C&G nominations.
Taking out a strong Cranbourne barrier trial prior to his competitive debut, Of The Brave jumped from the gates well and settled into a good rhythm in the Listed Debutants Stakes (1000m) on October 11th; displaying a keen turn of foot late to hit the line two lengths in the clear of closest rival Miss Idyllic.
Having again taken out a fast Cranbourne barrier trial on January 29th, Riley is thrilled with the condition of the two-year-old and is confident of a successful return to racing this weekend.
Trainer Mick Price saddled classy colts Jabali and Cornrow to notable success in the 2014 Blue Diamond events, and is set to be offered two good chances of victory this weekend after including Kirabo and Stylish Assassin in 2015 Blue Diamond Prelude C&G nominations.
Stamping his claims as one to watch on debut in the Blue Diamond Preview, Kirabo jumped from the gates poorly, but displayed exceptional skill and fortitude to run on for a credible third place finish behind Burnstone.
Similarly impressive when taking out a Cranbourne barrier trial prior to his competitive debut, Stylish Assassin was unlucky to be blocked for a run and checked late when tenth in the Debutant Stakes, but has pleased his trainer in work in the weeks leading up to the 2015 Blue Diamond Prelude C&G.
Team Hawkes saddled Golden Slipper-winning two-year-old Mossfun to success over the 2014 Autumn Carnival, and are excited by the chances of success of talented colt Top Me Up, who has been included in nominations for just his second start this weekend.
Kept to work at the Hawkes’ Flemington stables prior to his racing debut, Top Me Up was forced to overcome the wide and awkward barrier 9 in the Blue Diamond Preview on debut, but charged home late to finish a pleasing second.
Peter Moody is also set to be offered two chances of success this weekend, having included Braccenby and Chase The Horizon in 2015 Blue Diamond Prelude C&G nominations.
Inconvenienced early in the $252,000 Inglis Banner (1000m) on debut, Braccenby stamped his claims as one to watch when running on for an impressive third behind leading fillies Fontiton and Hot Snippety.
Yet to make his racing debut, Moody is excited by the chances of success of Chase The Horizon this season.
A final field and barrier draw for the 2015 Blue Diamond Prelude C&G Prelude is due to be completed and released on Wednesday.
