One Last Dance Keeps Blue Diamond Dream Alive with Prelude Win

February 14th, 2011

Talented young filly One Last Dance has kept the $1 million Blue Diamond dream alive for Caulfield trainer Peter Moody with a win in the $125,000 Group 3 Blue Diamond Prelude for Fillies (1100m) on Saturday, February 12.

After hot Blue Diamond Stakes favourite Sepoy won the colts and geldings Prelude earlier in the day, Encosta De Lago two-year-old One Last Dance matched him in the fillies edition scoring a tidy victory as the $3.30 favourite.

The scene is now set for the two unbeaten juveniles to face off in the 2011 Blue Diamond Stakes on January 26, Sepoy the $2 favourite to win followed by One Last Dance at a longer quote of $6.50 through leading online bookmaker Luxbet.

After having previously won the Blue Diamond Fillies Preview, One Last Dance staked her claims for a Blue Diamond Triple on Saturday.

Ridden beautifully by jockey Luke Nolen, One Last Dance overcame her wide barrier 11 draw in the Prelude and displayed an explosive turn of foot to move into the lead with 300m left to run.

Despite a fast finishing effort by runner-up Peter Snowden’s Glissade ($6), One Last Dance finished nearly a length in front while stablemate Hallowell Belle ($5) also from Moody’s stables finished off the Trifecta in third.

Mick Price’s sole Blue Diamond Stakes hopeful Holdontoyahorses ($6.50) was an eye-catching fourth in the Prelude less than two lengths away from the winner.

One Last Dance has now won all three of her race starts to date earning $170,863 in prize money for her connections.
